Canine programs That make a Difference

Volunteer Role: Purpose-Driven Foster Trainer

Join our life-changing foster program through Pando Dog Training with Pando Foundation! You're not just giving a dog a temporary home—you're becoming their personal trainer and mentor, unlocking their unique gifts to prepare them for a forever role as a therapy dog, medical service dog, or special-needs companion that will be donated and adopted one day.

What You'll Do as a Foster Trainer:

  • Welcome one rescue dog (or puppy) into your home for  9–12 months (flexible based on the dog's progress and your availability).
  • Attend once-a-week hands-on training sessions at our Spring Valley facility (60–90 minutes, weekends available).  Led by Tiffany Pando AKC Evaluator #103671 guides you step-by-step—no prior training experience needed!
  • Practice simple, fun daily homework (10–20 minutes) at home to build:
    • Foundation obedience (sit, stay, down, come, leash walking)
    • House manners & potty training
    • Medical obedience (alerts, task basics like retrieving items, deep-pressure therapy)
    • Calm behavior in public settings
  • Help us discover the dog’s natural talents (e.g., calm cuddler for therapy, alert-focused for medical needs).
  • Track progress with quick updates, photos, and videos—we’ll celebrate every win together!

Your Goal = Their Future:

Every dog in this program is being prepared for long-term placement:

  • Pass the AKC Canine Good Citizen (CGC) test
  • Complete Medical Assistant foundations
  • Graduate ready for full therapy dog certification or service-dog partnership Your fostering directly creates confident, life-changing dogs for veterans, kids with special needs, hospitals, schools, and families.
